Prior
to joining Summit Acquisition Group, Mr.
Kapteyn owned several companies in the
horticultural industry. In 1984 he
purchased Holland Bulb Company, a
wholesale/distributor of flowerbulbs and
horticultural products throughout the
northwest
United States

He and three other regional flowerbulb
firms then formed a national cooperative
under the name Van Bloem Gardens in 1984.

venture called Van Bloem-USA in
Georgia
, which brought more efficient purchasing
and lower production costs to the
organization.
Mr.
Kapteyn then facilitated the merger of the
Van Bloem cooperative into a single
entity. That complex deal, concluded
in 1991, took 3 years to complete.
Other operations eventually included a
Dutch production facility called Van Bloem-
Holland, a European marketing company, Van
Bloem- Europe, as well as a lawn and
garden supply distributor in
Oregon
and a greenhouse in
Georgia
. The company also had affiliated
operations in
Dallas
,
TX
and

the Van Bloem Gardens headquarters moved
into a new, state-of-the-art,
owner-occupied 117,000 S.F. facility in
the suburbs of
Atlanta
, Mr. Kapteyn and his family moved from
Oregon
to
Roswell
,
Georgia
. He became Chairman and C.E.O. of
the combined organization at that time.
The Company was eventually sold in January
2001. Revenues at the time exceeded
$54M.
Mr.
Kapteyn has real world experience dealing
with issues faced by today’s business
owners. He has personal experience
with sole proprietorships, partnerships,
family members in the company, buy/sell
agreements, acquisitions and divestitures,
S and C corporations and exit strategies.

issues and how they affect business
owners. Mr. Kapteyn has actively
done merger and acquisition work for over
25 years.
